Children’s home
The H2H children’s home is a facility that provides a safe home for children from various locations throughout Haiti. Some of the children have come to H2H because they have no living parents, while others have a mom and/or dad who may be unable to provide for them due to extenuating circumstances. Often there are no educational opportunities in the area that they are from, and they have no access to regular meals.
At H2H these children are provided with a safe place to live, education, nutritious meals, and access to basic medical care. Our Children’s home is a dormitory with children sleeping in boys/girls rooms based on their age. Older kids regularly look after the younger children, along with our Haitian support staff. Meals are prepared and served in our kitchen and dining hall. The health and wellbeing of the children is monitored and provided by an onsite campus nurse.
We place a large focus on encouraging personal responsibility while living in a community environment. To ensure the children thrive outside the compound once they have graduated, they all learn life skills such as cooking, washing, etc. There is a great family atmosphere among the children and caregivers. Days are filled with laughter heard across the compound and at night prayers are sung outside under the stars.
